Loving my yellow roses

Still in my 'yellow' phase, I treated myself to these gorgeous roses. I love having fresh flowers in the house.
I think yellow and purple are a great colour combination.
Another project finished off, a sweet little heart wreath. I have a larger one I may tackle this week.
What a wonderful surprise I found in my garden today, cute little mushrooms! It's turning into a proper fairy garden now, so delighted.

Happy Bunting

I finally finished my crochet bunting today, YAY! I love it so much, I absolutely must make more!
I didn't really know where to put this bunting, but it now takes pride of place in my kitchen window. It really brightens the place up, even my boyfriend likes it!

Just lovely

Last Friday I checked out a sewing and craft show in Newcastle with my friend. A great way to fill a grey and rainy day. There was so much fabric and we bought many, many fat quarters! I also bought these pretty beads.
I love pearls at the moment and these are especially good as they are nice and heavy. The glass beads are beautiful and the little plastic flowers are too cute. I'm not sure what will become of all these but they do look pretty on display in a glass bowl.
On Sunday the handmade markets were on. I do like these markets as there is always a good atmosphere and it's great to see what other people are creating. Since I was on a tight budget due to my fabric blowout during the week, I only bought a couple of little things. I fell in love with these little glittery cupcake soaps, I could've bought the whole lot but narrowed it down to these two. They don't look a bit out of place with my 'Lush' soap.
Finally the table is clutter free so I can display a few of my favourite pretty, pastel things.
Any lastly a super YUMMY cupcake from the handmade markets, mmmmmmmmmmmm.

Little bits of loveliness

Friday was a wonderful day. Firstly, I spent the day with my dear friend and her baby girl and secondly it was a successful thrifting outing. Don't you love it when it's just one of those days when the sun is shining and everywhere you turn are little moments of 'happy'!
Some of my second hand finds, how lucky was I? And a new pastel pink nail polish, the colour is called 'First Blush', how sweet and romantic.
The little ice cream bowl is perfect to display some of my recent creations.
Isn't this totally adorable, my friend spotted it first and knew I was going to LOVE it!
My hoard of floral china just keeps growing and growing! This plate is so pretty and I have a particular fondness for the brand and style,I already have a large collection that I inherited from my great grandmother. All I need now is somewhere to put them and show them off, so the search is on for a vintage display cupboard, I'll know it when I see it!

My first crochet flower!

I'm only a newcomer to crochet and I have to say it is fast becoming my new obsession! I've discovered a whole new world of beautiful wool loving blogs and inspiration. I really wanted to make a flower and after trawling through the many, many free patterns online, I finally found one that wasn't totally confusing here.  I also then had to teach myself the new stitches and terminology from tutorials and guides so making this flower took me a while but I got there in the end!
Here it is in the sunshine...
 and in the shade.
 Close up.
A quick sneaky peak inside my crochet box...projects that are still on the go but will be finished very soon.

Handmade first birthday presents

Last Saturday my dear friend held a pretty wonderful first birthday party for her most adorable daughter, Ruby.It had a woodland theme and you can see pictures here
I knew I had to make an extra special gift.
A handmade card, crafted from pages from a childrens book which I embelished to add more dimension.
Nothing handmade inside but I think the wrapping is cute!
A one of a kind cupcake crafty artwork. I am pretty proud of this I have to say, the colours worked well and are right up the mummy's alley...I'm inspired to make more!
I love to give handmade gifts. xx

Jelly lamingtons

Another project from 'Meet me at Mikes', but not a crafty one this time, Jelly Lamingtons! This was fun and easy, I just used a store bought sponge cake which I cut up into cubes, then made up a packet of plum jelly, once it began to set slightly I dipped the cake pieces into it then coated in coconut. They look pretty and tasted great.

I love coconut...and pastel colours.
