New old lovely things!

My new found passion would have to be op shopping for pre-loved objects that are filled with character and at a bargain price! Here are a few recent finds.

 A pretty, girly queen sixed sheet in as new condition, gorgeous saucers to add to my ever growing collection and cotton thread and buttons in 'my' colours.

 Swans, not something I usually go for but I think they are really sweet and couldn't leave them behind.

 Tea cup and saucer set were a gift from a lovely friend, a bunny-just because I LOVE bunnies.

 Here is something a little bit special. It is my Mum's sewing box that was given to her for her 21st back in the 70's.

The contents have been around for as long as I can remember, some things belonged to my Nanna and it really takes me back to my childhood where I would always look through the box and dabble with our old singer sewing machine. The box itself has seen better days, the lid is no longer attached, but I would never part with it.

I hope this has inspired you to head out to the nearest charity shop and give something old a new home and a new story. xx

Backyard fashion shoot

On a wet and grey Easter monday a magical fashion shoot took place in my soggy backyard. My beautiful & dear Irish friend Saoirse blossomed into a fairy as my model and between us we created some pretty, colourful and enchanting outfits. Oh how I wish we wore these clothes every day!

Little vintage finds

Last week while op shopping with my crafty partner in crime, Miss Emma I found these sweet litlle treasures. I just love it when u find gems hidden amongst the dusty shelves, and the grand total for these,$7!

Pretty colours everywhere!

Feeling inspired and with a bit of spare time on my hands, I finally decided to pretty up my older style rented home.

I am so in love with this battered and broken old chair which was a roadside find, it was even already splattered with paint and filled with character. The vintage tea cup and saucers were from a local op shop and the pastel flowers a gift from my thoughtful boyfriend.

My most recent project was transforming this old 2nd hand frame which was grimy gold and caked in dust, into a pretty, shabby chic must have. The cards and lanterns are from Typo, which has to be one of my favourite stores.

 Part of my laundry. I really don't mind its retro charm and lovely teal/turquoise colouring. The peg tin is from Aldi of all places, couldn't resist!

Burgundy bathroom, my ultimate nemesis, how I hate thee! There is not much I can do in here but add a bit of sugary pink! The little glass bottles were from a $2 shop.

So many products, what else to do other than arrange them in colour order lol!

College work

What a busy week at college it has been with so many things to hand in!

 Monday was window time. This is my interpretation of a classic style fashion window, I went for a winter woodland feel and couldn't help adding a touch of whimsy. I bought the green checked coat during my first winter living in London from H & M and I LOVE it dearly. I have to say it is my greatest clothing buy of all time.

The props were easy and since I'm a full time student on a very tight budget, they were cheap too. The wooden tree was in the prop room at college (lucky me) , the leaves are cut from left over christmas wrap with the non printed side up and scrunched a bit for texture and the deer is simply cut from cardboard and suspended.

This cat is from 'Meet me at Mikes' and was made as a textile submission for 3D class. Cute and simple to make.

 The bag is from 'Meet me at Mikes' also. I love the fabric and color combo in this and can't wait to use it!

For a papier mache project I chose to do a russian doll, here she is towering over my other dolls.

Lastly we have a wire sculpture bird made from coathanger style wire bent into shape then wrapped in wool.

None of these projects cost much money as I just used what I had laying around, I find that is when the best ideas come out. Happy crafting!

Styling class

 I always thought that I was mainly interested in playing around styling 'stuff'- homewares, accessories, food but not really clothing or fashion. But since being forced to use clothing in some recent class assessments I am more inspired. In the near future we have to shoot a 4-6  page fashion story which I am very excited about, especially about choosing a location, using props and creating a mood.

The brief for this was to use one or two items of clothing, styled with accessories and props and to shoot from above, then arrange another shot without the clothing to create a two page story.

Playing around. I loved this beautiful shell and happened to have a little bit of pearl jewellery.

The metal letter 'W' made me think of the word Whimsy, although I am not sure it really goes with styling.

I totally adore styling class, it allows me to get in touch with a few passions of mine which are theme, colour and little collections....and hopefully I can make this my future day job!
