Lately...

 

 I have been distracted by internet shopping. This cute little owl and purple pillowcase are from little tea wagon

I bought the cutest polymer creations from lucys sweet beads after falling in love with the necklace via instagram.

 I found the most perfect care bear plate from the op shop...I am very partial to care bears and almost squealed when I spotted this :) Also found the lovely bright pillowcase in the background at the same time.

 Pure wool in "my colours" also from an op shop and going very cheap.

 I've been busy adding to my sunburst blanket which I started 18 whole months ago....gee, I really am the worst at finishing things!

 

Spring is here loud and clear and with this new season comes new inspiration. I am busy working on opening an Etsy store (finally) ... My creative mind is in overdrive once again after a winter lull and I am striving to be the best, most positive me that I can be.

Aah, Spring...I love this time of year!

lovely colours

Pinks, Yellows, Oranges.

These colours make such a lovely combination and have been popping up here and there in my life lately. Such sunny colours they really make me look forward to the long summer days which won't be too fay away considering this last month of winter has been very warm and I have already been slightly sunburnt! I cannot wait to get my pretty floral dresses out :)

 

 

 I made orange and poppy seed cupcakes recently, and I just happened to have pink and yellow cases and sprinkles to match. Not really a coincidence, actually, since I am such a compulsive buyer of cake decorating supplies!

 

 

 They were not only pretty but yummy as well!

 

 

These are treasures from my recent trip to Melbourne...Vintage sheet from an op shop and pink pear candle holder and pineapple plate from Mozi, I love fruit themed items...and those colours again...

New old pretty wallpaper

Thank you ETSY!  I've received some real goodies in the mail recently including these beautiful pieces of vintage wallpaper. I have been looking at these so often but what to make with them???? I'd love an old cupboard type thing or a small display cabinet to use these papers on. Something where they can shine and be in the limelight....I'll just have to keep trawling the op shops :)

Vintage sheet spring throw, Ta-Daah!

Like many of you, I've been collecting vintage sheet odds and ends for a while now... I always had a little patchwork throw in mind to showcase all the lovely purples and blues. But me being a bit lazy when it comes to sewing big projects, I just joined the patchwork top to a fleece blanket with some binding, all done by machine, no hand stitching here! I'm happy with the result, although don't look too close at the corners!

 The weather was warm today, Spring is in the air and what a perfect time to finish this floral beauty!

Vintage sheet love

A few weeks ago....

 My awesome vintage sheet haul from the "stash and treasure" markets in Sydney! There will be a patchwork quilt made from these which I'm super excited about.

Pastel Jackpot

Pastel colours everywhere! I can't believe my luck of late, it doesn't matter where I go, I have found pretty coloured items.

These gorgeous plates were from an Op shop on Friday. There are 3 large and 3 smaller plates in lemon, baby pink and powder blue plus a pretty floral one for good measure. I am trying to cut back on buying vintage plates, really I am, but I never come accross bigger sized plates so had to have them.

I almost couldn't contain myself when I stumbled upon this wool on a bottom shelf in Spotlight. And the chunky crochet hoots which my friend found for me, also on our trip to Spotlight. I'm planning a scarf out of this lot.

My motto this week is "Ask and you shall receive" as I have found quite a few items off my secret, unspoken list, which is in fact, just buy anything that is in a pretty colour lol!

Easter display

I just loooove Easter. Mainly because I adore cute bunnies, chocolate and hot cross buns, but also my favourite colours are associated with Easter.....pastel and spring-like (despite it being Autumn here). I get so excited when I see easter stock arriving in stores and Bed Bath and Table have the best decorations in my opinion, I had to really control myself this year.

 Here is my little Easter display. It kept me busy this morning and I am pretty pleased with it, although I didn't fit all my bunnies in so they are just popped around the house for now.

 The little glass rabbits are from BB&T and could not be more up my alley. I love the vintage look of them and of course the colours!

After looking at a most beautiful blog, nana company  and feeling inspired, I sorted through my stash of fabric scraps and made this sweet rabbit. Then I made another one which I will post later. The frame ( originally garish gold) was an op shop find which I painted white and 'shabbied' up.

New year vintage

Happy New Year to you all, I hope 2012 brings much happiness & inspiration to everybody. I am not one for resolutions but I am going into this new year with positivity and I really look forward to all the joys this year may bring.

I started off as I mean to go on by visiting my local car boot sale on New Year's day. It was such a glorious sunny summer's day and my partner and I picked up a few little treasure as well as some sunburn!

 I was drawn to this sweet plate immediately, I mean the colours are all me and the image is so cute. I did a lap of the stalls but I just couldn't leave it there, so went back and my lovely boyfriend bought if for me. The cotton reels and beads are from an op shopping day I had not long before christmas.

 Such soft colours, more second hand finds.

 I adore this cookie jar, it has to be one of my favourite things I've found, unfortunately the lid was broken on the way home, but I just super glued it back together. It ads to the character anyway.

 Love this tea pot and jug set. I ummed and aahed over these and left them in the charity shop (big regret!) then almost 2 weeks later on my next visit they were still there, so it was meant to be, right?

Pretty old tea cups

Over the weekend while I was visiting Mum's house, I unpacked a box of my old tea cups. They were my great Grandmother's and are in amazing condition. It is just a shame they aren't on show, but one day I will find the perfect little cabinet to suit them. I forgot how many there are! Also, if you look closely, they are sitting on an assortment of vintage embroideries which my great Grandmother and Nan hand stitched, just so lovely.

Melbourne weekend away

Last weekend I was lucky enough to spend a few days with my boyfriend on holiday in Melbourne. We had a great time catching up with friends, sight seeing, eating lots and I particularly enjoyed looking at all the cute and quirky stores.

Chapel Street, home to Chapel St Bazaar of course, where I took this sneaky pic of my fave area which was cram packed full of vintage china. I fell in love with an amazing purple and floral tea cup but at $85, I sadly had to leave it in the cabinet. Also another store up my alley was Ishka, a hippy type of store. I must have an aqua mirror just like this one, and yes that is me in the reflection!

 The sun really came out on our trip to St Kilda, which also happened to be my birthday. It was just blissfull checking out the markets then sitting in sunshine, near the beach eating ice creams. By the way they definitely  tasted as good as they looked.

 Brunswick Street, probably my favourite area of melbourne. Filled with cool and unusual stores and the one and only 'Meet me at Mikes' which had a great window display of pom poms, I couldn't quite pick it up in the photo due to reflection though. Also, how much do I love this pink sink? It was in 'Mozi' and I'm sure the shop assistant thought I was mad taking a photo of it ha ha!

When I ordered a lemon,lime and bitters in a little bar on the Yarra, I was very impressed when it arrived in a jar. Seriously, I couldn't contain my excitement!

 Here is a funky cake stand I bought in Mozi, displayed on some pretty japanese paper from a store in Chapel St.

 Beautiful handmade soaps, yes the cupcake is a soap too, from St Kilda markets. My sweet friend gave them to me for my birthday.

And lastly macarons, LOVE LOVE LOVE them, it was near impossible to pick just two but I decided on coconut and raspberry. I carried them all the way home to sydney (by foot, bus, plane, train & car) just so i could take a good pic of them! Then I gobbled them up, both of them in 2 seconds flat...they were AMAZING!
